چکیده
The original Figure 4 contains incorrect structures for cytosine and isocytosine. This rectified Figure has the correct chemical structures of cytosine (pK a 4.4) and isocytosine (pK a 4.0).

Role of pKa of Nucleobases in the Origins of Chemical Evolution
The formation of canonical base pairs through Watson-Crick hydrogen bonding sits at the heart of the genetic apparatus. The specificity of the base pairing of adenine with thymine/uracil and guanine with cytosine preserves accurate information for the biochemical blueprint and replicates the instructions necessary for carrying out biological function. The chemical evolution question of how thes...
متن کاملDesign of Biosensors Based Transition-Metal Dichalcogenide for DNA-base Detection: A First-Principles Density Functional Theory Study
The main function purpose of nanobiosensors is to sense a biologically specific material and the kind of sensing platform and doping engineering has been an emerging topic and plays an important role in monolayer molybdenum disulfide (mMoS2). In this paper, we theoretically reveal the electronic structures of mMoS2 doped by 3d transition metals. Furthermore, adsorption of nucleic acid [Adenine ...
متن کاملThe chemical nature of the 2'-substituent in the pentose-sugar dictates the pseudoaromatic character of the nucleobase (pKa) in DNA/RNA.
We here show that the pKa (error limit: 0.01 to 0.03 pKa unit) of a nucleobase in a nucleotide can be modulated by the chemical nature of the 2'-substituent at the sugar moiety. This has been evidenced by the measurement of nucleobase pKa in 47 different model nucleoside 3',5'-bis- and 3'-mono-ethylphosphates. The fact that the electronic character of each of the 2'-substituents (Fig. 1) alters...
متن کاملpKa predictions of some aniline derivatives by ab initio calculations
: In this work, different levels of theory containing HF, B3LYP, and MP2 with different basis sets such as 6-31G, 6-31G*, 6-311G, 6-311+G, 6-31+G*, 6-31+G are used to predict relative acidity constants of some aniline derivatives. Three different kinds of radii containing UAHF, Bondi, and Pauling are used to study how cavity forms change acidity constants. In all cases, DPCM model is used to si...
متن کاملPhotochemical etiology of promising ancestors of the RNA nucleobases.
RNA is a product of chemical and biological evolution and the identification of its heterocyclic ancestors is essential for understanding the molecular origins of life. Among a diverse array of selection pressures thought to have shaped the composition of the nucleobases on prebiotic Earth, protection against intense ultraviolet radiation must have been essential. In this contribution, a detail...
